Desktop Deployment Basics
Launch-scope deployment notes for TraceLodger Desktop buyers and administrators.
Desktop direction
TraceLodger Desktop is the managed commercial shell for Windows and macOS. It supervises the local Python evidence engine through a native host and presents a review-first workspace for existing case directories, jobs, search, exports, diagnostics, and entitlement-aware operation.
- Tauri and Rust host with React, TypeScript, and Vite renderer.
- Python sidecar supervised through authenticated JSON-lines over stdio.
- Offline-capable signed entitlement handling and cached entitlement reuse.
- Review-only fallback when privileged operations are not entitled.
- macOS and Windows packaging scaffolding for managed rollout.
Administrator posture
Deployment docs should help IT and security owners understand installer paths, controlled environments, support behavior, and privacy boundaries.
- Windows MSI and macOS PKG paths should be described as desktop deployment targets.
- Intune and Jamf-friendly rollout language is appropriate where installer packaging supports it.
- Offline and controlled-environment review should remain part of the product posture.
- Request Access and website analytics must not collect case evidence.
Diagnostics
Diagnostics should exclude evidence and case content by default. They should focus on application version, install state, entitlement state, logs, environment context, and support-safe bundle metadata.
